The IN.TUNE Alliance is thrilled to announce the results of its first IN.TUNE Call for Student-Led Projects. Four standout initiatives have been selected for funding, each led by transnational student teams across the Alliance. These projects explore themes such as digital media, interdisciplinary sound, experimental composition, and international concert-making - all rooted in collaboration between students from different IN.TUNE institutions. From Belgrade to Barcelona, from Helsinki to Paris, these student-led ventures are reimagining how young artists connect and create beyond institutional walls.
Launched under the banner "Connect, Create and Collaborate Across Borders", the IN.TUNE Call for Student-Led Projects invited students to pitch ideas that would bridge institutional gaps and enhance the student experience across the alliance. Four projects, selected by eight members of the WP2 Committee in their annual in-person meeting in Bucharest on 26-28 May 2025, stood out for their creativity, feasibility, and commitment to international teamwork — whether through music-making, podcasting, or experimental research. Each project fosters new modes of learning, cultural exchange, and artistic production, offering real-world experience in collaboration, communication, and creative leadership.
A new call for student-led projects will be launched this autumn — offering more students the chance to connect, create, and collaborate across borders.
This project brings students together to create a multilingual podcast series about life, learning, and careers in music. Each institution will produce local podcast episodes featuring students and teachers discussing digital tools, networking, and career advice. All episodes will be shared on YouTube and TikTok, culminating in a final cross-institutional "mash-up" and a companion e-book. The goal: create an open digital archive of shared insights and voices from across Europe.
A bold composition project where students write musical fragments inspired by dance rhythms, to be reassembled live in concerts by the conductor — creating a new version every time. The result is a living musical piece, shaped in real-time and performed in Bucharest, Barcelona, and Paris. The project encourages experimental thinking, collaboration between composers and performers, and a hands-on approach to international artistic creation.
Focusing on the expressive power of instrumental sound, this project blends music with dance, visual arts, and performance. Students will explore "glitch" textures, extended techniques, and the physicality of sound to co-create a series of short interdisciplinary pieces. The project also includes a documentation phase and final presentations, aiming to foster new creative languages across art forms and institutions.
A cross-border concert in Helsinki will bring together students from Oslo and Helsinki to showcase contemporary electronic music. The event emphasizes hands-on collaboration, improvisation, and independent artistic production — skills essential for today's musicians. The concert will be student-run from promotion to performance, offering real-world experience and a platform for emerging electronic artists.
These student-led projects are set to run throughout the 2025-2026 academic year and will generate podcasts, concerts, interdisciplinary performances, and published materials contributing not only to student development, but also to the cultural and educational landscape of the IN.TUNE Alliance.
Stay tuned as these students put collaboration into action — and inspire more to follow.
