In March, 35 students from across the IN.TUNE Alliance gathered in The Hague for an intensive week-long seminar on sound system design and optimisation, led by acclaimed sound system engineer Merlijn van Veen. With sessions held in Studio 1 and the Concert Hall of the Royal Conservatoire, the course combined theoretical insight with hands-on experimentation, guided by Van Veen’s energetic and engaging teaching style.
Working with measurement microphones, real-time data and their own laptops, students explored the intricate relationship between acoustics, perception, and technology — sharpening their skills in both analysis and creative problem-solving.
