IN.TUNE Presented at AEC Workshop on Funding, Mobility and Digitisation in Brescia

IN.TUNE was presented as a practical example of a European University Alliance in the field of music and the arts during the international workshop Project Funding Opportunities, Erasmus+ Mobility and Digitisation: Practical Tools for the Internationalisation of Higher Music Education Institutions, held on 29–31 January 2026 in Brescia, Italy. Hosted by Conservatorio di Musica “Luca Marenzio” and organised in cooperation with the Association of European Conservatoires (AEC), the event brought together professionals from across Europe to strengthen understanding of the European funding opportunities among international relations officers and other staff interested in internationalisation of higher music education institutions.

A practice-oriented setting for international cooperation

The three-day programme focused on the tools and processes behind effective internationalisation in higher music education institutions. Alongside discussions on European Union (EU) funding opportunities, the workshop offered practical input on mobility management and digital approaches that support cooperation between institutions.

On 29 January, the European Universities Initiative was explored within the sessions exploring key EU funding routes, with IN.TUNE as a concrete example from the music field.

IN.TUNE’s contribution: alliance cooperation in action

IN.TUNE was introduced in the session “University Alliances – the example of IN.TUNE” through a presentation by Ivana Mijanović from the Faculty of Music, University of Arts Belgrade, and IN.TUNE's Mobility Working Group. The contribution highlighted how an alliance structure can support long-term institutional cooperation, beyond single projects or short-term exchanges.

Bringing together eight music and arts universities across Europe, IN.TUNE aims to strengthen sustainable collaboration and high-quality education through shared development and joint planning. The presentation focused on two areas with clear relevance for the wider conservatoire community: IN.TUNE’s work on seamless mobility and its approach to the development of the innovative joint educational offer.

Mobility and joint educational formats

First, IN.TUNE’s work on mobility, particularly virtual and blended formats, was shared as a way to expand access and flexibility while remaining compatible with the realities of performance-based learning. Second, IN.TUNE’s joint educational formats were presented as practical models for transnational curriculum development, supported by Erasmus+ funding. These formats range from blended intensive programmes and online courses to jointly developed modules and programme components.

By sharing lessons from alliance work in progress, IN.TUNE contributed to the workshop’s goal of equipping institutions with approaches they can adapt to their own internationalisation strategies.
